Design

My design philosophy evolves from over 40 years of experience as an artist that has worked in many creative fields including, fine art, graphic art, printing, architecture, industrial design,woodworking and sculpting. I have found I draw off of all of these disiplines when creating a custom knife, or what I like to refer to as functional art.

Each creation starts off using CAD software to form a graphic representation of the finished knife. Every detail is addressed in this process, from the blade geometry, handle material and accents to choosing the best type of steel for the knife's intended function. Once all the details have been determined, a paper pattern is used to create a wooden template of the knife. Modeling clay is then used to mold a handle so that fit and feel can be determined prior to cutting any steel.
